JOCKEY is a 2021 American drama film written by Greg Kwedar and Clint Bentley, who also is the director. The film stars Clifton Collins Jr., Molly Parker, and Moises Arias.
The film had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 31, 2021.
The Story in a nutshell; an aging jockey (Clifton Collins Jr.), hopes to Win one last title for his longtime trainer (Molly Parker), who has acquired what appears to be a championship horse. But the years – and injuries – have taken a toll on his body, throwing into question his ability to continue his lifelong passion.
The arrival of a young rookie rider (Moises Arias), who claims to be his son, and whom he takes under his wing, further complicates the path to fulfilling his dream, while wanting to leave a legacy.
Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a score of 88%. The website’s critical consensus reads, “Jockey rests almost entirely on Clifton Collins Jr. in the title role – and he proves more than up to the task with a brilliant performance that gives this poignant drama its soul.”
