The feature race at Gulfstream Park this Saturday is the $300,000 dollar, Grade 2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes

The FOY is the second official Kentucky Derby qualifier at Gulfstream Park and offers 50-20-10-5 points to the top four finishers.

It is run at the distance of 1 1/16 mile, and drew a field of ten 3-year-olds.

The Fountain of Youth is named after the mythical spring that attracted explorers to Florida in the 16th Century.

The race was first held in 1945, and has been run every year since 1953.

It has been held at a variety of distances, but has been run at 1 1/16 miles since 2012.

Over the years, the Fountain of Youth has produced 13 Winners of the Kentucky Derby, with the most recent being ORB in 2013.

Since 1980, 96 starters from this Gulfstream race have found their way into the field for the Run for the Roses.

The Fountain of Youth will anchor a blockbuster Saturday program as the final race on a card of 14.

Nine Stakes races are scheduled, including the $200,000 Davona Dale (G2), featuring the 2021 debut of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) heroine and Eclipse Winner VEQUIST.

On Friday the Daily Racing Blog will take a close-up look at the field of ten for this years FOY. So be sure to stop back.
