We’re Back!

The Daily Racing Blog apologizes for not publishing any new posts the last few days.  We were on hand in Saratoga from Friday through Monday and were experiencing some technical difficulties which made it impossible to file any reports while away from our headquarters.

It was another sloppy weekend of racing at The Spa as many of the races on the turf were moved to the dirt track.  Normally large fields were then run with five to six horses.  Heck, the first race on  Mondays card only had four runners, and in true Saratoga form, the longest odds of the four won the contest, returning $25.40 for a $2 wager, which if you’re a regular viewer of this column, you know DRB had it all the way.

So we’ll take a look at the ten races for Wednesday with the mindset that the four races scheduled for the grass could be moved to the dirt surface.

1st:  #5 ML 6-1.  #1 ML 6-1.  #3 ML 12-1.  #2 ML 5-2.

2nd:  #8 ML 12-1.  #7 ML 10-1.  #3 ML 5-2.  #6 ML 8-5.

3rd:  #5 ML 8-1.  #4 ML 3-1.  #2 ML 2-1.  #3 ML 9-5.

4th:  #1 ML 5-1.  #5 ML 12-1.  #2 ML 3-1.  #3 ML 2-1.

5th:  #2 ML 8-1.  #3 ML 8-1.  #1 ML 5-2.  #5 ML 12-1.

6th:  #2 ML 8-1.  #7 ML 7-2.  #1 ML 6-1.  #6 ML 3-1.

7th:  #9 ML 8-1.  #1A ML 10-1.  #7 ML 7-2.  #3 ML 12-1.

8th:  #5 ML 6-1.  #4 ML 5-1.  #8 ML 8-1.  #2 ML 7-2.

9th:  #8 ML 8-1.  #4 ML 7-2.  #1 ML 20-1.  #2 ML 3-1.

10th:  #7 ML 8-1.  #8 ML 7-2.  #2 ML 3-1.  #15 ML 4-1.

The Bolton Landing is the feature event for Wednesday and is contested in race nine.  It is a 5.5 furlong race for two-year old fillies.  Which will hopefully be held on the turf, with a purse of $100,000.  Typically Saratoga (or any track) tries to keep a turf-race feature on that surface.  Thus, many times races prior to the feature that are on the grass will be moved to dirt in order to let the turf dry and firm up.  We shall see.  There has been a lot of rain at The Spa this year, and it might take back to back dry days to get the turf back to firm.  Best of luck and value.
