Day 24 & We Want More!

Last week the Daily Racing Blog talked about the leading jockeys at this years meet at Saratoga.  Today  lets take a look at the top three trainers.  (these numbers come at the end of racing on Monday and do not reflect Wednesday’s card)  The top two are no surprise.  Ranking third at this point is Steve Asmussen.  He has had 44 starters, of which 24 have been in the money (1st, 2nd or 3rd).  In second place at the moment is Todd Pletcher, his horses have 77 starts, and have hit the board 39 times.  The leading trainer at Saratoga is a familiar one, Chad Brown (pictured).  His horses have gone to the gate 84 times and been in the money a whopping 52 times, including 25 victories!  Brown trained horses Win at a rate of close to 30%.  Phenomenal.

The weather forecast for Thursday at The Spa is partly sunny and 84 degrees.  We hope to be running on a track that is Fast & Firm.  Here then are the choices:

1st:  #2 ML 8-1.  #4 ML 3-1.  #6 ML 6-1.  #1 ML 5-2.

2nd:  #6 ML 8-1.  #1 ML 5-1.  #2 ML 7-2.  #3 ML 2-1.

3rd:  #4 ML 3-1.  #1 ML 9-2.  #2 ML 7-2.  #3 ML 12-1.

4th:  #3 ML 15-1.  #7 ML 9-2.  #5 ML 2-1.  #9 ML 12-1.

5th:  #8 ML 9-2.  #6 ML 5-1.  #1 ML 7-2.  #5 ML 7-2.

6th:  #1 ML 15-1.  #7 ML 5-1.  #3 ML 6-1.  #2 ML 3-1.

7th:  #4 ML 6-1.  #6 ML 6-1.  #7 ML 5-1.  #5 ML 4-2.

8th:  #9 ML 9-2.  #4 ML 8-1.  #1 ML 6-1.  #7 ML 5-2.

9th:  #9 ML 15-1.  #1 ML 4-1.  #7 ML 5-2.  #10 ML 10-1.

The Thursday feature event is early in the card, as the third race is the running of The Union Avenue B.  It is a race for fillies and mares, three year-olds and up.  It is on the dirt track at a distance of 6.5 furlongs with a purse of $100,000.  It is a short field of five horses so, as always, look for decent odds.  Good luck and good value.
