SANTA CLAUS (foaled in 1961) was a British-bred Irish trained race-horse and sire.
As a three year-old in 1964 the dark-coated bay stallion had his best year on the turf.
There is no doubt that, back in the day, SANTA CLAUS brought a lot of joy to the older boys and girls that believed in him.
His most notable achievements were Winning the Irish 200 Guineas Stakes, as well as the Epsom and Irish Derbies.
These Victories (in part) earned SANTA CLAUS the 1964 British Horse Of The Year award.
And while his was a short but distinguished career, one can imagine how much fun it was when the field turned for home, the horses charging down the stretch racing for the wire and the track announcer would get to call out; AND HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS !
The DAILY RACING BLOG would like to wish all our loyal followers and their families a very Merry Christmas.
