Opening weekend at the Saratoga Race Course was a HUGE success.
The New York Racing Association says the 4-day opening weekend generated more than $90 million dollars in the all sources wagering handle.
That number easily topping the corresponding 2020 and 2019 opening weekends.
The total handle for the 41 race, four day opening was an increase of 12.2% from last years number, which was certainly affected by the lack of fans at the track due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It also represents an increase of 22.5% from 2019 when spectators were allowed on the grounds.
By the end of opening day on Thursday, 27,760 fans had passed through the turnstiles at Saratoga.
That’s an increase of 5,000 bodies from the last opening day with fans in 2019.
Racing resumes at The Spa on Wednesday with a Post Time of 1:05.
It’s good to be back !
