SWISS SKYDIVER Wins The 2020 Preakness

The reputation of SWISS SKYDIVER this year is of a filly unafraid to race anyone, anytime, anywhere. On Saturday, in her 9th start at her 9th different track of the season, she scored the biggest Win of her career.

She became just the 6th female in history to Win the Preakness Stakes when she beat Kentucky Derby Winner AUTHENTIC to the wire in a thrilling stretch duel.

The last filly to Win the Preakness was the great RACHEL ALEXANDRA in 2009.

Four weeks back, AUTHENTIC Won a thrilling stretch duel under jockey John Velazquez against TIZ THE LAW to Win the Kentucky Derby.

Once again, that team found themselves locked in a tight one Saturday.

Jockey Robby Albarado made a well-timed move on the backstretch when he maneuvered SWISS SKYDIVER around THOUSAND WORDS in order settle inside of AUTHENTIC.

The Battle Of The Sexes was underway. The two horses stayed locked eye-to-eye from that point on, around the far turn and through the home stretch.

Both horses showed no signs of tiring as they flew through the final furlong. When the pair hit the wire it was SWISS SKYDIVER a head in front to become the 2020 Preakness Champion.

Saturday’s race brought to an end a unique Triple Crown season, the first that ever ended in the fall. It was the latest that the Preakness had ever been run.

Well past the previous late date of June 16th when it was staged during the final days of World War II in 1945.

The Women’s Army Corps salutes you SWISS SKYDIVER.
