SANTA CLAUS (foaled in 1961) was a British-bred Irish trained race-horse and sire. As a three year-old in 1964 the dark-coated bay stallion had his best year on the turf. His most notable achievements were Winning the Irish 200 Guineas Stakes, as well as the Epsom and Irish Derbies.
These Victories (in part) earned SANTA CLAUS the 1964 British Horse Of The Year award.
The Daily Racing Blog would like to believe that not only did SANTA CLAUS bring joy to every boy and girl, but to the track announcers where ever he ran- for as the field of horses made the turn for home, and charged down the home-stretch, the announcer would get to bellow for all to hear; “And here comes SANTA CLAUS!”
DRB would like to wish all our loyal followers and their families a very Merry Christmas.
