Breeders Cup Classic 2018

Triple Crown Champion JUSTIFY will not be running in this years BC Classic, but it is still shaping up to be one heck of a horse race.  In the weeks leading up the November 3rd race at Churchill Downs the Daily Racing Blog will take a look at some of the probable entries for the six million dollar race.

ACCELERATE.  This five year-old California based horse, trained by John Sadler, is like a Napa Valley wine- getting better with age.  This guy has beaten another great horse in ARROGATE (a BC Classic winner himself) and does not seem to be slowing down with age.  Given his history and staying power, some have called him the best dirt horse in America.  We shall see.

CATHOLIC BOY.  It is not easy to win a Grade One Stakes race on turf or dirt, given that the competition at those levels is extremely tough.  He has done both.  The Jonathan Thomas trained horse has won the Grade One Belmont Derby on turf at Belmont Park on July 7th, and followed that up with a win in the Grade One Travers Stakes on the main track at Saratoga on August 25th.  This is not your run-of-the-mill accomplishment in horse racing, and he appears to be peaking at the right time.

DIVERSIFY.  Trained by Richard Violette Jr. this guy has speed to spare, and knows how to use it.  Another Saratoga Grade One winner, he won the Whitney Stakes.  He will probably prep for the BC Classic in the Grade One Jockey Gold Cup on September 29th at Belmont Park.  After which he will ship to Churchill Downs, and will be listed as one of the Morning Line favorites for The Classic.

Stay tuned to DRB as we will continue to give you probable entries to this, and all the races for the Breeders Cup Championship on November 2nd, and 3rd.
