The first race on Wednesday’s card was the steeplechase, which was run on the grass as expected. Three subsequent turf races were moved to the main track. Not counting the jumpers, three out of five races were taken off the turf. Maybe the title to this post should be; And The Beat (as in bad) Goes On. A couple of nice features on the Thursday card. For all you fans of the steeplechase, the first race of the day is the New York Turf Writers Cup Handicap. It is a Grade 1 Stakes race for 4 year-olds and up. The jumpers will go 2 & 3/8th miles on the turf, competing for a purse of $175,000 dollars. The second feature event comes in the 9th race when the Risk Averse Stakes will run. Three year-old fillies will run one mile on the turf looking for a share of the $100,000 dollar prize money.
Fingers crossed for fast and firm conditions. Good luck and good value to you.
Looking ahead…just read Saturday card has Pick 4 and Pick 6 with all G1 races in them.

Yeah, I believe the Late Pick-4 has a guaranteed prize of $500,000, just to start the pool. It will, no doubt, climb way past that…double, maybe triple. Good opportunity for a team ticket.
