OFF TURF. That has been the sad track listing the last 10 days at Saratoga. Saturday’s weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, with scattered showers. It has been quite the rainy season at The Spa. The Daily Racing Blog is hard pressed to recall so many lousy days (see off turf) in the first four weeks of the meet. We’ll move ahead to Saturday, and hope for dry conditions.

Saturday brings us two Graded Stakes Races at Saratoga. First up in the 8th race is, The Lake Placid, a Grade 2 Stakes Race. Three year-old fillies will be running a mile and one eighth on the turf, vying for a purse of $300,000. In the 9th we have The Alabama, a Grade 1 Stakes Race which is considered the feature event of the day. This race is also for three year-old fillies, but is run on the dirt at a distance of a mile and a quarter, with the ladies competing for a purse of $600,000. Fingers crossed for fast and firm conditions. Good luck and good value.
