A panel of media members, horseplayers, and Breeders’ Cup officials have released their final poll in which they vote for the nation’s top contenders for the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Theses rankings are determined by each voter grading their top 10 horses with points assigned on a descending 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
This week’s vote was the 10th and last week of the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Classic rankings and were once again led by 3-year-old SOVEREIGNTY.
Here are the results of the final poll taken October 7th:
1. SOVEREIGNTY (35 first-place votes) Trainer: Bill Mott. Jockey: Junior Alvarado.
2. FIERCENESS (2 first-place votes) Trainer: Todd Pletcher. Jockey: John Velazquez.
3. SIERRA LEONE (2 first-place votes) Trainer: Chad Brown. Jockey: Flavien Prat.
4. MINDFRAME Trainer: Todd Pletcher. Jockey: Irad Ortiz Jr.
5. FOREVER YOUNG (1 first-place vote) Trainer: Yoshito Yahagi. Jockey: Ryusei Sakai.
6. JOURNALISM Trainer: Michael McCarthy. Jockey: Umberto Rispoli.
7. BAEZA Trainer: John Shirreffs. Jockey: Hector Isaac Berrios.
8. ANTIQUARIAN Trainer: Todd Pletcher. Jockey: To Be Determined.
9. LOCKED Trainer: Todd Pletcher. Jockey: John Velazquez.
10. HIGHLAND FALLS Trainer: Brad Cox. Jockey: Luis Saez.
The Breeders’ Cup Classic is Saturday, November 1st at Del Mar.
