On Saturday, November 2nd THORPEDO ANNA Won the $2 million dollar Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
On November 5th she was also on top of the the final National Thoroughbred Racing Association poll of top Thoroughbreds of 2024.
In that poll THORPEDO ANNA was ahead of SIERRA LEONE and FIERCENESS.
The poll would seem to indicate the probability of her being awarded the prestigious prize of 2024 Horse of the Year Award.
The Eclipse Award Winners are announced January 23rd in a ceremony at The Breakers Palm Beach in South Florida.
At the very least THORPEDO ANNA is considered a lock to be honored as Champion 3-year-old filly.
Under the watchful eye of trainer Kenny McPeek, ANNA is 6-1-0 in seven starts this year with earnings of more than $3.6 million dollars.
She had 295 overall points in the poll to rank ahead of BC CLASSIC Winner SIERRA LEONE who garnered 262 points.
The Classic runner-up and Travers Stakes Winner FIERCENESS ranked 3rd in the poll with 233 points.
Breeders’ Cup Turf Winner REBELS’S ROMANCE was a distant 4th with 150 points.

Hey Mike!
Thorpedo Anna definitely is the horse of the year!
Fierceness deserves to be ranked ahead of Sierra Leone. Fierceness is a better horse! Sierra Leone’s success relies on the pace and having the race setup for him.
While I bet Sierra Leone in the Breeders Cup Classic, Fierceness was up against it with that fast pace and didn’t lose any respect in defeat.
Miss our chats at Lowe’s my friend!
Hope you’re doing well!

Hello Keith !
So glad to hear from you. Appreciate you still reading the blog. Agree with your observations. Happy to learn you had some success with the Breeders’ Cup… Me? Not so much. : (
Did you get to the Spa this year? How’s your knee doing? I might be up that way before the end of the year, I’ll stop back and see you- I assume not many vendors talk horse racing?
Hope things are well by you my friend.
