The 2019 WOOD MEMORIAL STAKES is one of three Prep Races this weekend offering major qualifying points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. It is the final Derby Prep in New York. This Grade 2 contest awards KD points to the top four finishers on a 100-40-20-10 scale, guaranteeing the Winner and possibly the runner-up a spot in the Churchill Downs starting gate on May fourth.
In addition to the points The Wood also offers a $750,000 dollar purse and has attracted a competitive field of eleven 3-year-olds to Aqueduct Park for the 1 1/8-mile race. The race will be televised on NBCSN, with a scheduled Post Time of 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
