Fields are forming for the biggest afternoon yet, on the 2019 Kentucky Derby Trail.  Saturday March 9th has 3 KD Prep-Races with the feature events taking place at Aqueduct Park, Tampa Bay Downs, and Santa Anita Park.  All three races will pay out points on 50-20-10-5 scale.  Here then is a brief look at the probable fields for those contests.

Gotham Stakes (G3) @ Aqueduct

This is shaping up to be one of the strongest Gothams in recent memory.  INSTAGRAND and MUCH BETTER are shipping in from California, Grade 1 Winners MIND CONTROL and KNICKS GO are targeting this race, while CALL PAUL and HAIKAL come in off of Stakes Race victories.

Tampa Bay Derby (G2) @ Tampa Bay Downs

Local Stakes Winners WELL DEFINED and WIN WIN WIN should receive a stiff challenge from recent Fair Grounds allowance winner DREAM MAKER, who could be the Favorite coming off a monster effort last time out.  TACITUS makes his season debut here.

San Felipe Stakes (G2) @ Santa Anita Park

It’s no surprise that it’s all about the Big 2 trained by Bob Baffert.  Prognosticators are giving the early edge to IMPROBABLE over GAME WINNER based on recent works-outs.  This race will presumably have a short field, and offer little Value, given the talent of those two.
